Hand over the safe environment to the future generations is the pledge heard across the world. Practically, human activities do not offer any contribution to a sustainable environment. One such activity is the usage of ride-hailing services. Nowadays, people utilize a mobile app to book a ride and reach the destination safely within the scheduled time period.
With the focus of one aspect say travel, we are very casual on another one i.e. sustainable environment. Wide utilization of ride-sharing services makes many ride-sharing companies participate which increases the vehicle count drastically causing congestion, pollution, climate changes, etc.
To alleviate such issues, ride-sharing service providers concentrate on low-carbon emission-based transportation, say electrified rides in the coming years. Hence, the transportation sector is going to be ready for such an enormous revolution.
When the entire structure is revolutionized, the players involved in such a ride-hailing service bus getting prepared for them to withstand. Most importantly, drivers are the majorly affected ones. The transition from the normal to electrifying vehicles requires some specialized maintenance services like charging stations, etc. But, acceleration into Electric Vehicles (EV) may reduce the financial risks and burdens on individual drivers.
Hence, the electrifying ride-hailing is the major process observed in transportation sectors nowadays. Being an experienced player in the ride-hailing industry, the deep investigations from the SpotnRides are presented in this section. This information would help in future aspects of the ride-sharing companies.
How to Boost Up the Process of Electrifying the Ride Sharing Vehicles?
Towards Pleasant, Cleanable and Safe environment
More emissions than trips in a personal vehicle are a serious concern in ride-hailing trips. The research analysis showed that the average ride-hailing trips create 50% more population than the average traditional car trip. Continued on this aspect in a un-electrified manner, there would be a great impact on increasing air pollution and greenhouse gases.
Electrifying ride-hailing vehicles has the potential benefits of less pollution, more money to the drivers and the increase in usage of mobility hubs. The immense utilization of traditional types of vehicles leads to the adverse emissions of the greenhouse. Rather, the utilization of EVs during transport causes low emission and hence the quality of the air is improved. Upon this concept, handing over a safe environment is possible.
The operating cost such as fuel and maintenance service cost is more in the driver aspect if ride-hailing is un-electrified. Replacing them with EVs helps the driver in reducing cost and allows them to save money. Prior to a complete change, there is one more opportunity to offer the vehicles on rent to the drivers and make them sustainable leaders for your business.
Finally, the placement of fast chargers says mobility hub and this also supports taxi fleet electrification in order to connect multiple mobility modes. Interconnecting through the mobility hub is also responsible for maintaining equity among the drivers considerably.
Though the participation of EV in transportation services plays a major ole, it also comes with several real-time challenges. This blog guides the ride-hailing service providers on how they are going to be ready to meet this revolutionary trend.

Accelerate e-mobility transition in Long-term
Mobility megatrends caused the huge disruption in transportation services and they acted as the self-reinforcing strategies. Looking deeply, there are four mobility megatrends that are observed such as autonomous, connected, electrified and shared. Besides, e-mobility also plays a major role due to the following reasons.
- EV growth in favor of e-mobility
McKinsey reports suggested that the growth rate of EV sales is rapidly for the past five years. On the consumer side, 50% are unfamiliar with the EV impact on the transportation business. Hence, the automakers and the players involved in ride-hailing services make the respective campaign about the need for EVs on future transportation.
- Anticipate with technology tools
As you know already, the ride-hailing services are running under the mobile platform. Riders can book the vehicle through the mobile application and avail the ride services on the following aspects: real-time mapping feasibilities, route optimization, scheduling trips, etc. When there is a change in the structure of transportation by EV, there must be a suitable technology platform that is needed to control the charging needs.
Interconnecting the mobility hub, scheduled charging period, notifications, interactive search of nearby charging stations are the basic requirements needed to be incorporated on the mobile application.
- Creating pull for green mobility solutions
Progressive urbanization reforms traditional mobility into green mobility solutions, where they should meet the high-quality air standards. To meet this, sharing a ride on either shorter distance and the same destination helps the reduction of vehicle movement on a regional basis. Hence, a dedicated option called sharing on a trip is also needed on the mobile application if the number of riders on the same destination is raised.
Looking on these aspects, the e-mobility transition offers a huge breakthrough in both the ride-hailing companies and mobile application development. SpotnRides, an experienced player in the taxi app development market and it considers these future aspects into the app development process. Prior to the development, detailed analysis of what are the needs of EV drivers and how it scaled up the service providers to meet this electrifying acceleration trends are presented in this blog.
SpotnRides Investigations of Evident Themes of EV drivers
Though the electrification offers numerous perks on environmental protection, the speed of the vehicle is comparatively low by traditional vehicles. If your riders are willing to be green mode passengers, then they have to wait for a certain time period to avail such a vehicle.
- In other aspects, appreciating the drivers on the basis of vehicle maintenance aspects, silent, high-tech and clean vehicles is also a special case in EV transportation. Here, some of the investigations of SpotnRides are the evident themes on the above-mentioned aspects.
- They are aware of EVs, but they are unfamiliar with how they work, how they can earn the benefits from.
- ‘Refuel’ EVs. This term is not clearly understood by the drivers. Instead of going to petrol centers, they must encourage the usage of chargeable stations is a big aspect. Besides, how much duration of charging, cost are the features to be added for understanding purposes.
- Misinterpretation about all activities to be done electrically is the most common aspect observed in all regions. EVs are only a replacement for air pollution reduction. It is not an automated one. EV also needs the drivers to operate.
- Even though the above listing is increasing, drivers expressed their interest in EVs compared to the fueled vehicle. Why?. Financial is the only reason. The huge savings of fuel cost and considerable revenue growth makes great exposure among drivers.
- Accessing reliable and cost-effective charging options is the major difficulty of drivers.
From the detailed analysis of investigations, SpotnRides encounter some of the needed interfaces to be incorporated on the taxi-hailing application in order to cope up with the e-mobility transit system.
How SpotnRides Scaled up For Acceleration of Electrification
Building and launching the mobile app are major processes nowadays and many of the service providers or taxi service business owners approach the suitable development player for participation in the on-demand ride-hailing industry. Owning EVs and building up of charging infrastructure is not the part of SpotnRides app solution, but it does not mean that they remain the same interface.
When your transportation providers are concentrated on the EVs, then the necessary updates on the mobile application is needed. According to the business analyst reports, ride-hailing service companies estimated the value of self-driving ride rides is 1 billion in the year 2025.
By looking into the above aspects, SpotnRides makes a commitment towards supporting EVs in order to protect the environment from the pollution and green mode passengers. It is in need to do the experiments on the following strategies in order to meet the e-mobility trends.
- Seamless Search of nearby Chargeable Stations
Identifying the chargeable station is the first and foremost aspect of EV drivers. Hence, SpotnRides inherits with the dedicated option for searching the nearby chargeable station. By using this search, drivers can easily get the information and directly gets into that location for charging and resume the ride.
- Scheduling Trips
As discussed in the previous session, the green mode passengers have a great compromise on the waiting time. But, the SpotnRides offer the scheduling option that describes the time period for EV arrival exactly in the app itself. Thereby, the waiting time is reduced and this provides convenience to the customers.
- Route Optimization to Destination/Chargeable station
Here, the route identification lies in two aspects. By using the available GPS based navigation option on SpotnRides, drivers easily identify the optimal route from the number of routes to reach the destination and chargeable station within a short period of time. Upon finding the optimal route, the congestion can be reduced and make space for road transport effectively.
- Centralized Interface for Chargeable Station
Suppose the government or the private chargeable station allocator willing to provide the service to the driver means, an interconnected platform for all chargeable stations is easy with the help of digital solution SpotnRides. Besides, the fare spent for charging according to the chargeable time period is also shown in the app itself and this makes the transparency in price-fixing.
Final say
Protecting the environment from air pollution and the reduction of greenhouse gases are the future aspects. Only by the way of either reducing the traditional vehicles or the replacement of traditional vehicles with the EVs, go green transport is possible. To incorporate such feasibilities, changes in the infrastructure are required.
According to these changes, the mobile app also in need of redefining.
